There are two types of conversion in Subscription Cortex:
1. Subscription Conversion
- A new unique active subscription entry passed via SFTP to ReSci will count as a "subscription conversion" on the date the subscription starts ("started_at" column).
- If your attribution for subscription is "open +5", we check if a user received an email and got their subscription data entry added within 5 days.
- This conversion is displayed in our Trend Details when you select Conversion Type: Subscription.
2. Order Conversion
- An attribution order "open + 5", follows the same logic as a subscription conversion except that we see if an order data entry was added within 5 days.
- A new order entry passed via SFTP to ReSci will count as an "order conversion" on the date it was ordered on ("ordered_at" column).
- The order conversion is what is being displayed in our Experiment Stats area.
- Most partners don't use this section and instead opt for our Smart Blasts which has embedded Subscription tracking.
A key metric of a successful subscription business is how many new subscribers are being added, as well as how we can increase the time to churn and retain them. That said, it's important to align our conversion definition so that we have an apples to apples comparison.
- Do you track your conversions as new subscriptions to your business, or by some other type of billing?
- Does your system count recurring subscription billing as conversions?
- If a user orders multiple boxes, are they counted as one conversion or multiple conversions?
